01 I want you to go after him again,in the asylum. 我想让你再到收容所一趟。

go after sb/sth.是设法追求某人以获得某物的意思。
例:She’s going after the Swedish baron to win the title.
她正猛追瑞典男爵以得到贵族头衔。

02  You will not entrap me in this,Miss Krose. 你别把我牵扯进去,克罗丝小姐。   entrap相当于trap,后者还要更常用些,是“使落入圈套”的意思。
例:She trapped him into admitting that he liked her.
她使他中了圈套,承认自己喜欢她。 
03 I want just straight reporting. 我就直接要份报告。   straight指直接的,坦白的;比如说:come straight to the point是“直截了当地说”,straight out也指“直言”。例:
I was fired! Tell me the reason. Give it to me straight.
我被解雇了!告诉我什么原因,直说吧。 
04 I'm dying to see you every moment of the day.  我时时刻刻都盼着见到你。  be dying to/be dying for 极想/迫切想.。例:
I heard a lot about Hong Kong,I'm dying to see it.
我了解很多关于香港的事,我真想去看一看。 
05 Jake is out of a job.Is that true?So they say. 杰克失业了,是真的吗?大家都这么说。   So they say 是为了附和对方的说法,不论谈话的内容是什么,都可以用这句话,这里的they泛指一般人而言,并不特别是指某些人。要注意so的用法,so是副词,一般表示方式或状态,意思是这样、那样、这么、那么、因此、所以等。如:
You're clever,so is your daughter.
你很聪明,你女儿也一样。 
06 The date of the wedding is still up in the air. 婚礼的日期尚未确定。   Up in the air 是习惯说法,指计划、问题等悬而未决、尚未确定。
例:When are you going to Australia? 你什么时候去澳洲?
It's up in the air.尚未确定。 
07 How is your novel coming along?So far, so good 你小说写的如何?目前还算顺利  come along进展;顺利进行。So far, so good.到目前为止还算顺利  
例:Jane’s recovrey is coming along nicely.
珍的复原情况良好。
Was the surgery a success? So far, so good.
手术成功吗?到目前为止还算顺利。 
08 The opening ceremony would be grand. (奥运会)开幕式场面将十分壮阔。   一般开幕式的英文表达,opening ceremony,有时也简单地说成opening。例:
The mayor made a speech at the opening.
市长在开幕式上发表了演说。
The ceremonial opening of Parliament was a fine spectacle.
该议会的开幕式场面隆重。 
09 Should I buy that second-hand car? 我应该买那辆二手车吗?  second-hand做形容词用,表示“二手的;用过的;旧的”,而firsthand则为形容词,表示“第一手的”。例:
I bought my living room furniture at a second-hand store.我在卖旧货的店里买了客厅家具。
It’s not firsthand information,so I don’t believe it.
这不是第一手资料,所以我不会相信。 
10 He hit me on the arm. 他打我的手臂。   凡表示“拍”,“打”的动作,其用法如下:hit/pat/slap/strike/punch+sb+on+the+身体部位。拍/打某人的……部位。例:
My teacher patted me on the back.老师拍了拍我的背。
Slap sb in the face打耳光,
punch sb in the stomach打腹部,
kick sb in the butt踢臀部等则介词用in,而不用on。 
11  No,that's just a rumor. 不,那只是个谣言罢了。   rumor做名词用,表示“谣言”,又一重要用法如下:rumor has it+从句=there is a rumor+从句,意思是“谣传……” 。例:
Rumor has it that he cheated on the exam.
谣传他考试时作弊。 
12  The boss is driving me nuts. 老板快把我逼疯了。   drive原表示“开车”,亦做“逼迫,迫使”解,用法如下:drive sb+adj.迫使某人……的。例:
His sister was driving him nuts with her constant phone calls.
他妹妹不断地打电话来,快把他逼疯了。 
13   I'm getting a divorce. 我要离婚了。  divorce有下列用法:a.做名词用时,表示“离婚”,get a divorce离婚,例:
My parents want to get a divorce.我爸妈想离婚。
B.做动词时,表示“和......离婚”,例:
Mr.Brown divorced with his wife.布朗先生和他妻子离婚了。 
14  Why don't we go to a movie? I'm game. 我们何不去看场电影?我愿意。   game除了做名词用,表示“游戏”之外,尚可做形容词用,表示“愿意的,心甘情愿的”。 
15  You're too young to get picked up by the police. 你太年轻,警察不会逮捕你的。   Pick sb.up,带走,逮到。还有更多意思。例1:
That is the girl Tom picked up on the street.
那个女孩是汤姆在街上遇到的。
例2:I stopped the car and picked up the old man who is walking across the plain.
我停下车来再载上那个在平原上走的老人。 
16  I couldn't agree with you more 我无比地同意你的观点。  couldn’t agree more指同意的不能再同意了。例:
At this point I couldn’t agree with him more.
在这点上我非常赞同他的意见。 
17  I picked mine up last night.  我昨晚就接到分派的任务。  Pick sth up不但有收到的意思,还指获得,看到等。例1:
I picked up a bargain at an auction sale here last weekend.
上个周末,我在此处的拍卖会上买到了便宜货。例2:
Her grandmother picked up health soon after she got to the seaside.
她的祖母到海滨去后不久,身体就康复了。 
18  Certainly pretty hard to swallow. 当然有些难以接受。   Swallow 直译是“吞,咽”。比喻用法可指相信,忍受之意。例:
How could you swallow her story?She told everyone differently.
你怎么就轻信了她的故事?她跟每个人说的都不一样。 
19  As if the organ of my imagination is dried up. 好像我所有的想象力都干涸了。   Dry up指使干涸,枯竭,在口语中只用也指停止谈话,安静。例:
Jenny can’t take the stares and she finally dries up.
詹妮无法忍受那么多人的目光,终于还是闭上了嘴。 
20  I let it come to me by the nurse.  这是她的保姆交给我的。  Come by sth指获得,得到。例:
Was the money honestly come by?
钱的来路正当吗? 
21  We are about to begin our descent into Los Angeles.  飞机即将降临洛杉矶机场。  Be about to do sth.意思是“即将,正要”做某事,相当于be going to do sth.例:
He received the telegraph from his mother as he was about to start.
他正要动身的时候接到了母亲的电报。 
22 I don't mean to be rude. 我并非有意冒犯。   mean to do sth.指刻意,故意做某事。例:
Please forgive me.I didn't mean to offend you by saying that.
请原谅,我那么说并不是有意要冒犯您。 
23 You must have formed some opinion of me .  你对我一定是有看法的。  Must have done sth.对过去发生的事所做的判断或猜测,通常只在对说的内容的准确性把握比较大时使用。例:
It must have cost him a lot to buy the eatate.
他买下那套房子一定花了不少钱。 
24 I'm going to let you get away with that. 在这一点上我不会让你岔开话题的。   get away with sth.指逃避责备,惩罚等,侥幸成功。例:
David took the train without buying a ticket,and he got away with it.
大卫搭火车不买票竟然会没事。 
25 Every once in a while,I see fear in your eyes. 我总是在你眼中看到恐惧。   Once in a while指“不时地”,once a bluemoon则指“千载难逢的”。
例:The fact is that,I see him once a bluemoon.

26 Promise me now,and never let go of that promise. 答应我,千万别忘了。   Let go of sth./sb.以及let sth./sb.go意思是放手,松手,放开。在上句中引申为放弃。例:
Don’t let go of your hands!别放开手。 
27 Darling,am I supposed to think you are serious? 亲爱的,你是认真的吗?   be supposed to do sth.应该去做某事。例:
Are you supposed to be in Australia now?
你现在不是应该在澳大利亚吗? 
28 We all know him as a man of his word. 我们都知道他是一个有信用的人。   A man of his word,一个遵守信用的人。Word有诺言的意思,相当于promise。 
29 I got the feeling I screwed up 我感觉刚才我好像搞砸了。  Screwed up,搞砸的意思。例:
I think I screw up the test yesterday.
我想昨天的考试我搞砸了。 
30 I'm just always suspicious of new people. 我对于不认识的人有戒心。  Be suspicious of,对某事或某人持怀疑的态度。例:
The police are suspicious of his alibi because he already has a record.
警方对他不在场的辩解表示怀疑,因为他已有前科。 
31 She's exhausted from the day's work.  她工作了一天,累坏了。  除了exhausted外另外两种表示累的说法。
例1:He is dog-tired after coming back from the hiking.
远足回来后他累极了。
例2:He is worn out after a whole day’s working.
工作了一天,他筋疲力尽。
